Vinyl LP pressing. Oklahoma is the original soundtrack album of the 1955 film Oklahoma, an adaptation of the musical play of the same name. The soundtrack charged to #1 on the Billboard Pop Album Chart in 1956. Now available as a single LP on standard weight vinyl in celebration of Capitol Records' 75th anniversary. Oklahoma! Is a 1955 musical film based on the 1943 stage musical Oklahoma!, written by composer Richard Rodgers, and lyricist/librettist Oscar Hammerstein II and starring Gordon MacRae, Shirley Jones (in her film debut), Rod Steiger, Charlotte Greenwood, Gloria Grahame, Gene Nelson, James Whitmore and Eddie Albert. The production was the only musical directed by Fred Zinnemann. Oklahoma! #was the first feature film photographed in the Todd-AO 70 widescreen process (and, was simultaneously filmed in CinemaScope 35mm). The film received a rave review from The New York Times, and was voted a "New York Times Critics Pick". In 2007, Oklahoma! #was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".
