Smashing Pumpkins are one of the most well-known alternative rock bands of all time. They’re primarily associated with the genres of shoegaze, goth-rock, psychedelic rock, and dream pop, unlike many of the punk-influenced bands that they’re often compared to. Formed in 1988 and fronted by singer Billy Corgan, the group hit it big with their sophomore release, 1993’s Siamese Dream. This LP, which features iconic tracks like “Cherub Rock,” “Today,” “Disarm,” and “Rocket,” all of which were released as singles, received universal acclaim and eventually went quadruple platinum. A special 2011 reissue of the album is available as part of the Sound of Vinyl’s Smashing Pumpkins record collection.
