Surfing On Sine Waves
Classic electronic music from the artist also known as Aphex Twin. Originally issued in 1993 as part of Warp’s influential Artificial Intelligence series, Surfing On Sine Waves is the only album released under Richard D. James’ Polygon Window alias. The title, suggested by Warp co-founder Rob Mitchell, cemented James’ place in the label’s pioneering electronic era, with the record debuting at #2 on the UK dance charts.
The release was followed later that year by the Quoth EP, featuring its iconic title track and additional material that expanded the album’s world. Together, these releases represent a crucial moment in the development of British electronic music, bridging club culture and home listening with James’ singular approach.
Now reissued as Surfing On Sine Waves (Expanded Edition), the collection brings the album and its companion EP together as a definitive document of James’ groundbreaking work under the Polygon Window name.
