Margate

$29.99

Originally released in 1982, Margate is a standalone Chas And Dave single from the same period as Job Lot, catching the duo in their familiar Rockney lane of music-hall humor and pub-singalong phrasing. The title track became one of their best-known seaside songs and reached No. 46 on the UK Singles Chart, after first being developed from a tune written for a Courage Best Bitter ad.

Here, “Margate” sits alongside the later “Only Fools & Horses Jolly Boys’ Outing Version,” which reworks the song around the sitcom’s famous day-trip episode, while “Give It Gavotte” shows their taste for knockabout instrumental twists and “That’s What I Like” adds another period B-side from the same run of singles. It’s a neatly assembled vinyl edition that brings those sides together in one place.
