Recorded in 1962, Hub-Tones stands as one of the most significant artistic statements of Freddie Hubbard’s formidable career, and also features one of Reid Miles’ most iconic album cover designs. Presenting the trumpeter at the helm of an excellent quintet with James Spaulding (alto saxophone & flute), Herbie Hancock (piano), Reggie Workman (bass), and Clifford Jarvis (drums), the album opens with a breathtaking performance of the standard “You’re My Everything” followed by 4 captivating Hubbard originals: “Prophet Jennings,” “Hub-Tones,” “Lament for Booker,” and “For Spee’s Sake.”

This Blue Note 80 Vinyl Edition is all-analog, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes, and pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal.
