Two pop-punk powerhouses join forces to deliver five short, bittersweet songs on one of the best split 7"s of the year. Hospital Job, fronted by Luke McNeil of The Copyrights, comes from Springfield, Illinois and their signature style rides the line between contemporary mid western pop punk and indie-rock and roll of decades past. It both is remarkable and unmistakable. This is apparent on their excellent cover of The Mountain Goats "Vampires". With three LPs under their belt, Hospital Job is known for their likeably weird ideas, big hooks, warm vocals that ooze with fuzziness and huge guitar riffs. Their songs are melody-heavy and power-driven. At times their songs relentlessly tug at your heart and at other times they hit on a more cerebral level with unexpected twists, turns, stops and repeats. Fans of Blink 182, Toys That Kill, and The Dopamines will love Hospital Job. The Capitalist Kids hail from Austin, Texas and bring with them three clever and catchy songs on the B Side. What really puts The Capitalist Kids ahead of the rest are their lyrics, which are sarcastic and relatable, while bringing the classic styling of pop punk into the modern day sociopolitical arena. Their memorable guitar leads, are much in the vein of Screeching Weasel and the classic sugary vocals round out a very authentic pop-punk experience that makes you both think and feel.
